5 Snack Recipes that are Detox Plan Approved!

It can be challenging to find snacks that are both palate pleasing and meet detox cleanse criteria. Here are a few of my favorite go to recipes that require minimal time to prepare and hit the spot when I need a little boost in my day!

Chia Seed Pudding

You might already be familiar with this one but if not, it’s a must try! Chia seeds are a great source of fiber, antioxidants and healthy fats. Keep a couple servings premade in air-tight jars to grab when you’re on the go! (recipe below is for one serving)

  • 3 Tablespoons of Chia Seeds
  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 5-10 drops of liquid stevia
  • ½ cup of your favorite fresh fruit, chopped – ex. berries, mango, bananaDirections:

Combine all of the ingredients, except fruit, into a blender, blend until it is a uniform texture. Transfer to a sealable container, top with fruit, seal and allow to chill overnight.


Guacamole Lettuce Wraps


A classic you can throw together the night before and take with you for the next day! Guacamole recipes are a-plenty but the one I’ve listed below is detox friendly. When choosing a lettuce make sure it’s a green leaf lettuce (no iceberg!) as this contains a whole host of vitamins, including K and C. Fill with your favorite sliced veggies!

  • 3 Haas avocados, halved, seeded and peeled.
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 2 cloves chopped garlic
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne
  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro
  • 4 pieces of rinsed and dried green lettuce leaves
  • Your choice of raw sliced veggies – ex. cucumber, celery, red pepper, etc.

Place all ingredients into a large bowl and mash. Divide guacamole mix evenly onto the leafiest part of each lettuce leaf.  Top the guacamole with sliced veggies and begin to roll in the mixture with the lettuce leaf, like a burrito. Hold in place with toothpick or by placing seam of wrap face down. Place in an airtight container to keep guacamole from browning. OPTIONAL: Before rolling, add raw pumpkin seeds, or sunflower seeds for an extra nutritional crunch in each bite!


Savory Nut & Seed Crisps


Clean-as-can-be-recipe, packed with protein, healthy fats and fiber. Eat as they are, dip, or crumbling on top of soups.

  • ¾ cup raw pumpkin seeds
  • ¾ cup sunflower seeds
  • ¼ cup sesame seeds
  • ¼ cup poppy seeds
  • ¼ cup flax seeds
  • ¼ cup hemp seeds
  • ¼ cup chia seeds
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1.5 cups warm water

Mix ingredients together in a large bowl and add the warm water. Stir well and let sit for an hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats. Divide the seed mixture between the two pans and pat or roll the seeds out into a thin even layer. Bake at 300F, for an hour or until firm and crisp. Let cool on the pans, and then break into pieces. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.


Sweet-Fix Coconut Bombs

As the name implies, a perfect answer for those sneaky sugar cravings!

  • 1 cup shredded coconut (+ more for rolling in)
  • 1/3 cup fresh ground flaxseed
  • 2 tsp coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp tahini paste
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2-4 drops liquid stevia
  • 1-2 tbsp unsweetened coconut milk

Blend 1 cup shredded coconut and coconut oil in food processor until it forms a paste (little crunch is fine). Add in the ground flaxseed, tahini paste, vanilla extract, cinnamon, stevia and combine. Slowly add 1 tablespoon of coconut milk, adding more if necessary to soften the dough. Roll into bite-size balls in your hands and cover the balls with the extra shredded coconut. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to week.


Mint + Lemon Drinking Vinegar (Detox-Modified)

Similar in experience as kombucha, this drink is refreshing and supports digestion! Have a glass 30 minutes before meals and you’ll be ready to break down and absorb all that nutrition you’re taking in! It also helps to curb appetite so if you’re working to decrease portion sizes, this is great addition to your detox plan.

  • 32 oz. jar with lid
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • ½ lemon, preferably organic as the peel is included
  • 7-9 Mint leaves
  • OPTIONAL: 2-4 drops of stevia for sweetness

Put apple cider vinegar, ½ lemon (cut in half again) and mint leaves into the 32oz jar, seal with lid and shake for about a minute, then let sit for 2 hours. Shake contents one last time before straining out the lemon and mint leaves, leaving just the liquid behind. Fill the rest of the jar with water to dilute the vinegar mixture. Add a few drops of stevia for sweetness and enjoy!
