Billing

We offer complimentary insurance billing utilizing the services of an external billing agency, Efficient Medical Billing Services.  If you have questions about a current bill, please contact them directly at

503.384.2988 You can pay your bill online at www.efficientmbs.com/nwim. When you receive a bill, your account number is listed in the upper right-hand box, along with the amount due.

You can also sign up for online statements.  Once your first bill generates, an email will be sent to the email on file with instructions on how to set up your account.  This may end up in your junk mail folder because of the way the email address is formatted, but it should show the sender as “payments@efficientmbs.com” and the subject should reference your “Patient Statement.” If you have questions about this or need help with setting up your account, please contact our biller at 503.384.2988.

There is a wide variety of coverage for naturopathic physicians.  This varies by company and by plan and it is important that you understand your benefits.  Some insurance plans obtained through the health market place require that your primary care physician be at an assigned facility, which will affect your coverage. Please see our Insurance Verification Worksheet to help walk you through determining your coverage.

OREGON HEALTH PLANS (Medicaid):

Our clinic is a primary care home for Health Share Care Oregon patients. We are accepting new patients of all ages.

Some Oregon Health Plans require a referral from your assigned primary care provider in order to be seen. Generally our providers are only able to provide naturopathic consultations and specialty care.

Plans:

  • Kaiser OHP
  • Providence OHP
  • Tuality OHP
  • OHSU OHP
  • Care Oregon- OHSU
  • Care Oregon- Legacy

MEDICARE:

Medicare offered through the federal government does not cover naturopathic physicians. This includes additional plan offered through Medicare itself.  However, there are Medicare Advantage plans offered through Private Insurance companies that do offer naturopathic coverage.  To determine your coverage, please contact your insurance coverage.  When selecting plans, we encourage you to reach out to Lou Ogden (louogden.com), a local insurance broker who is familiar with naturopathic care.

UNINSURED:

For those who do not have insurance or have no naturopathic coverage, we offer a 25% discount off of all provider service charges.

OUT OF POCKET COSTS:

It is important for you to understand your health insurance. If you would like to understand more about how health insurance works, see HERE. For some common insurance issues we have encountered, see HERE. There are some plans that are in-network but your plan is set to apply all costs of care to your deductible and only provide coverage once the deductible is met. This is most often seen with BRONZE or HSA plans. If you have one of these plans, you can estimate your out of pocket costs below:

While every visit is billed based on the individual care provided, below is an approximation of your base appointment cost:

New Visits: $145-398
With 25% discount: $108.75-$298.50

Established Patients: $87.58-$280
With 25% discounts. $65.70-$210

Wellness Visits: New Patient $300/$250
With 25% discount: $225/$187.50

Average out of pocket screening labs: ~$100

The above costs do not include procedure fees such as questionnaire screenings, in-office labs, office procedures, IV therapy, injections, osteopathic manipulations, bodywork, hydrotherapy, or the cost of any medications used in a visit or supplements prescribed following a visit.
