About Dr. Martha Pace
Dr. Martha Pace is a licensed naturopathic physician currently undergoing her first year of residency at Northwest Integrative Medicine. She was first brought to naturopathic medicine as a patient herself and is intimately familiar with the intense emotions that can come with being on a healing journey. She looks forward to bringing empathy, optimism, and curiosity to your medical care, while empowering you to be at the helm of your health.
Much of Dr. Pace’s clinical experience while attending the National University of Natural Medicine focused on mental health conditions, LGBTQIA+ care and gender-affirming hormone therapy, hormone balancing, substance use and recovery, and cardiac conditions. She approaches health from a foundational point of view and appreciates naturopathic medicine for its ability to incorporate a wide variety of therapeutic modalities, particularly pharmaceutical and botanical medicines, soft-tissue bodywork, IV therapy, nutrition, hydrotherapy, and stress management techniques.
Dr. Pace enjoys working with patients from all walks of life, but she has a special place in her heart for stigmatized and underserved communities—especially LGBTQIA+ and gender-nonconforming, formerly incarcerated, those with present or past substance use, and houseless folks. As a queer, cisgender, able-bodied white physician, it is important to Dr. Pace to recognize the impact of these identities and commit daily to creating safe spaces for any and everyone she encounters. In order to achieve this, Dr. Pace brings self-accountability, humility, trauma awareness, and honesty into her patient visits. It is her belief that health is the sum of a life lived in your body, environment, and circumstance, and because of that, she aims to foster a therapeutic relationship free of judgment or sanctimoniousness.
Originally from Buffalo, NY, Dr. Pace moved to Portland after living in Barcelona, New York City, and Los Angeles. She is obsessed with dogs (and frankly any animal-friend) and would love to see a picture of yours, if you have one. She is a firm believer that self-care comes in many forms, and she fills her spiritual cup with hiking, cooking new vegetarian recipes, traveling, dancing to music from one of her many curated Spotify playlists, trying new restaurants in Portland with her partner, and tackling the ever-growing stack of books on her bedside table. She is excited to chat with you about what makes you tick, too, and hear how you think she could best support you in your care.
